| Drug Indication | Stable angina and hypertension |
| Precautions | Irreversible renal failure and hypotension, poor cardiac reserve, HF and severe aortic stenosis, withdrawal in case of worsening ischaemic pain, severe hypotension, pregnancy and lactation, avoid grape fruit juice. |
| Contra-Indications | Pregnancy, cardiogenic shock, advanced aortic stenosis, porphyria. |
| Side Effects | Headache, lethargy, flushing, GI disturbances, peripheral oedema, hypotension, palpitation, perspiration, aggravation of angina, allergic reactions, gynaecomastia, gingival hyperplasia. |
| Dosage | Nifedipine 10mg cap: indicated for angina, raynauds phenomenon and hypertension. Dose: 10mg TID with or after food. Usual maintenance: 5-20mg TID. For immediate effect in angina bite into capsule and retain liquid in mouth or swallow.Nifedine 20mg retard: Stable angina and hypertension.Nifedipine 30mg: Hypertension and angina, 30mg OD (max. 90mg OD). |
